DonnaScultura 2014 – Pietrasanta

DonnaScultura (WomanSculpture) is an exhibition created by Pietrasanta Town Council Department for Art & Culture, curated by Chiara Celli and Valentina Fogher. Every year it hosts four artists that tell us about their personal and artistic experience through their work.

Now in its XII edition, this year’s exhibition showcases 4 protagonists: the Anglo-Lebanese Majd Patou Fathallah, the Italians Carla Marchelli and Elena Mutinelli and the Norwegian Inger Sannes.

The four sculptors who have all found Pietrasanta to be the ideal location for their creative expression, were chosen among 12 artists by a panel of experts, who had given particular attention to their levels of experimentation, use of materials, originality of language and strength of the expressed message.

The exhibition is on show in the Church of Saint Agostino from 8 February to 16 March 2014. It features over forty works which allow us to retrace the sculptors’ artistic journeys. Through photographs, drawings and sketches, it will be possible to follow the genesis of one piece of sculpture that each artist considers particularly significant in their creative development.

As usual, the exhibition will be accompanied by the DonnaEventi (WomanEvents) meetings, promoted by the Department for Equal Opportunities, this year dedicated to the theme: WomanSuccess between Art and Nature.
