Ensemble Nuova Cappella di Palazzo in concert: La nascita della Madonna – Splendori del Barocco Lucchese

27 December 2010, at 9pm, the Santa Maria Corteorlandini church, in the historical centre of Lucca, will host the concert La nascita della Madonna – Splendori del Barocco Lucchese by the Nuova Cappella di Palazzo Ensemble, directed by Jonathan Brandani.
The Ensemble continues in the fascinating discovery of the historical musical heritage of Lucca and re-proposes it using period instruments in original settings, on this occasion the Church of Santa Maria Corteorlandini. The programme is dedicated in particular to works by Giovanni Antonio Canuti, who was Choirmaster at this Church, and Tommaso Breni. The maestro Jonathan Brandani fully exploits the church’s acoustic possibilities, using baroque execution techniques: the musicians play, as then, at different points within the church, creating an effect of dialogue and echo between the voices and instruments.
