On show at the MuSA – Virtual Museum of Sculpture and Architecture of Pietrasanta, for the third event of Leggera Materia 2015, work by the leading companies in the sector Stone, Design, Art and Innovation.
From 24 July to 30 August, the exhibition Evocations – Art and design in marble organised by CNA Lucca.
The exhibition features a series of works created by Versilian artisans, in collaboration with international artists and designers. The aim is that of providing an overview of how the material can be planned, designed, modelled, worked and sculpted; sculpture, design and artisanship pay tribute to marble interpreting its multiple shades.
The exhibition boasts an extremely varied and rich combination of artists and partners:
in line with the theme of the exhibition, GUMDesign presents Cumuli, winner of the “Best Communicator Award 2014”. Architettura Sonora presents the moduli sonori, that have already received prestigious awards such as the A+ Architizer award a New York. The French designer Sophie Lafont brings her marble champagne pots, while thanks to the partnership with Carrara Design Factory, the exhibition hosts “Ago”, the series of marble plates by designer Victoria Wuilmotte.
In relation to the upcycling of marble from the Apuan-Versilia region, Evocations presents pieces from the 40×40 collection by Paolo Ulian and Moreno Ratti. With this series, the marble tiles which are discarded every year, get a “second chance”, being transformed into works of design.
Again this year, different methods of collaboration will be presented, that are able to generate amazing results, such as the prototypes created by designer Davide Aquini, Elisabetta Coccioni, Sofia Crescioli, Ambra Pisati and Maria Laura Sala, coordinated by SOURCE – Self Made Design and ZP STUDIO.
Lastly, as in the past editions, there will be works by internationally famous artists who live and work at Pietrasanta, including Julia Vance from Norway, Szymon Oltarzewski from Poland, Cynthia Sah and Nicolas Bertoux from the Arkad foundation, Flavia Robalo, the young artist from Argentina and Veronica Fonzo from the association La Polveriera.
The artisan artistic tradition of workmanship from Pietrasanta will also be present, with exhibitions of works created by artisan workshops such as Josafat Cardini & F., Studio Franco Cervietti, Massimo Galleni, DAM & Apuomarg, Studio Giorgio Angeli & ElleArte, commissioned by famous artists such as John Bizas, Massimo Bertolini, Arturo Carmassi, Robert Courtright, Bruno Romeda and Jean-Gabriel Coignet.
The exhibition, with free admission, opens Friday 24 July at 18:30 and is open every day, except Monday, hours: 18:30 – 23:30.
