The Museum of Man A. C. Blanc offers every first Sunday of the month a free initiative to raise awareness of the territory, its inhabitants and the activities that took place in prehistoric times.
It is in this context that Sunday, September 4 will be carried out in the company of an archaeologist, a guided tour of the caves called Buche delle Fate, in the locality Piano di Mommio (Massarosa). The grottos hosted archaeological finds of the Middle Paleolithic and the Copper Age. The little caves, which are very easy to reach, became “‹”‹accessible to everybody thanks to a project of the Municipality of Massarosa that equipped the area with a path and explanatory panels. The tour consists of 1.5 km of mixed ground, partly paved and partly gravel, with a slight slope. The hike is easy and suitable for both children and adults.
