The exhibition of work by the Verona-born artist Novello Finotti includes a series of sculptures and bas-reliefs representative of his artistic career. The different periods and “seasons” of the artist’s development are tied together by one common trait – colour, or rather the absence of it.
The deep and boundless black of ebony, basalt, granite, Belgian marble or patinated bronze, gives life and voice to the interiority of Finotti. It is in the absence of light that he reveals intimate journeys, both personal to him and those universally human.
