On the last Sunday of August to the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Guardia place ahead of Carpinelli, between Lunigiana, and Gargfagnana, between the Apuan Alps and the Apennines, is devoted to the celebrations.
The origins of the shrine of Our Lady of the Guard of Argegna are in a small church began construction May 20, 1895. The statue of the Madonna della Guardia, by Antonio Canepa, was brought to Carpinelli 31 May 1896 and then in the church of Sermezzana, fraction of Minucciano. In 1897, when the church was finished, the statue was brought to the upstream Argegna and, on this very day, came the beginning of work on the large sanctuary, designed by the Genoese Camaiore Massardo. In 1901, the original church became a sanctuary, with three naves.
