The Opera Barga festival hosts a local and International audience since 50 years and is now an important cultural event with the medieval town of Barga in its center, also if animating summer in the entire valley of the Serchio river side by side side with a festival of chamber music organized with dedication by famous musicians.
The festival has been created in 1967 on the initiative of Peter Hunt and Gillian Armitage, an actor and a British production designer who moved to Barga some time ago. The couple had the idea of using the Teatro dei Differenti of Barga to found an opera school that could give the opportunity to young singers, orchestras, conductors and stage designers to realize performances put on stage.
The program of the concerts of tonight, Thursday, August 3, is:
h 18:30 – Barga, SS. Annunziata Church – Music by Geminiani; Pablo Varela, clavicembalo.
h 21:30 – Barga, Teatro dei Differenti – Trio Busch, Wolfgang Rihm ‘Fremde Szene III’ (1981). Felix Mendelssohn Trio in Do min. Op.66 -Franz Schubert Trio in Mi bemolle.
