On the occasion of the Jubilee 2016 FrancigenAmica representsa a new great event that is aimed at the rediscovery of the Via Francigena, which passes across Camaiore.
The event is open to families, dogs, joggers and cyclists, all together to rediscover a stretch of road with a strong cultural and historic value.
Four will be the types of approach to the road of the pilgrims: Franciwalk, Francirundog, Francibike and Francirun.
FRANCIWALK and FRANCIRUNDOG are non-competitive walks, open to everyone, including four-legged friends. The "pilgrims" of these two categories will depart from the Incaba Toys Center parking and arrive in the historical center of Camaiore after a walk of 4 km in contact with nature, history and traditions.
Along the first stretch of road you can admire the beauty of the area, taste typical local products, discover the mastery of local handicrafts and watch the photo exhibition on the Via Francigena. The party continues in the Old Town in an unique Medieval atmosphere, with food stands and crafts, live music and themed entertainment.
Those who want to continue walking along the Via Francigena can take advantage of the map contained inside the goody bag and continue the walk to Montemagno.
FRANCIBIKE is a non-competitive cycling reserved for MTB, while FRANCIRUN is a competitive race reserved for runners. Both will take place over a distance of 15 km (30% asphalt and 70% unpaved road) through unspoiled natural landscapes.
The participants to these two sports events will start from Villa Cavanis in Capezzano Pianore, will pass through Incaba Toys Center and then continue along the passages and paths of the Via Francigena towards Montemagno, climb to Frascalino and finish the tour with an exciting descent towards the arrival in Nocchi.
At stake for the participants there will be rich prizes offered by the partners of the event.
In the cathegory FRANCIWALK will be awarded: the largest group, the cutest medieval costume, the most original pair, the younges ant the oldest "Pilgrim".
For the category FRANCIRUNDOG: will be awarded the most original dog, the largest and the smallest dog, the most elegant and the most … "medieval".
The FRANCIRUN, only competitive race will be divided into five subcategories of which will be awarded the top 5 runners.
The event is organized by Stops.it and Consortium for the Promotion of Tourism in Versilia in collaboration with the municipality of Camaiore, the Department of Tourism, the European Association of Vie Francigena, the Association of Tuscany Vie Francigene, the Associations of the districts, CCN of Camaiore and the support of USL Tuscany Northwest, Versilia Groups of Walkers, AFA and Gaining Health.
