From sculptor to painter: at Villa Bertelli the exhibition “Arturo Dazzi restaurato”

Da scultore a pittore: a Villa Bertelli la mostra "Arturo Dazzi restaurato" / From sculptor to painter: at Villa Bertelli the exhibition "Arturo Dazzi restaurato"

Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 20 December to 29 March, it will be possible to see the exhibition of restored works by Arturo Dazzi, at Villa Bertelli.

The indisputable technical skill of the sculptor from Carrara, who was commissioned for numerous works in the first half of the 20th century, in particular by the church, leave space in this exhibition for Dazzi’s extraordinary ability as a painter of marked sensibility.

Claudio Casini, presenting the catalogue of the exhibition, asserts that “the representation of nature, captured in its spontaneity, is freed from the eclectic and monumental conventions of coeval sculpture, to embrace a more intimate dialogue through fast brushstrokes and chromatic suggestions that, nevertheless, remain true to the solidity of the forms. This is the way paintings depicting scenes with horses, fish and deer; portraits of women and female nudes; compositions of flowers and Versilian landscapes have been conceived“.

18 works from the Dazzi collection of Forte dei Marmi Town Council, have been completely restored by the Villa Bertelli Foundation, in homage to the great artist for the Centenary of Forte dei Marmi.

The exhibition “Arturo Dazzi restaurato” is open every weekend from 16.30 to 19.30.
