Graphic art, the undeniable success of 2RC

Arte grafica, l'indiscussa affermazione della 2RC / Graphic art, the undeniable success of 2RC

The exhibition “Fifty years of creative joy. The long journey of 2RC. Graphic art 1962 -2013” will be inaugurated on Friday 21 June, at 11.30 at GAMC “Lorenzo Viani” in Viareggio.

The exhibition features 60 works created over 2RC’s five decades of activity, from when it was founded by Valter and Eleonora Rossi and their cousin Franco Cioppi in 1959, in Rome, to the present day.

The exhibition retraces the success of an Italian enterprise that, strongly determined to assert and support the indisputable value of graphic art, achieved international acclaim publishing work by world famous artists such as Lucio Fontana, Alberto Burri, Francis Bacon, Enzo Cucchi, Henry Moore and many others.

2RC has always distinguished itself by its efforts to share, teach and foster initiative in the field of graphic art, unfailingly ahead of their times and stimulating and involving an increasing number of artists to express themselves in this genre.

In this way, 2RC has contributed, over the last 50 years, to the development of new kinds of market (and therefore new forms of work), even contributing to the creation of ties with Asia, thanks to the collaboration with the Central Academy of Beijing.

The exhibition also marks the inauguration of the International Centre of Graphic Art 2RCGAMC where the Post-Graduate Master in Art Printing techniques, in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Art in Florence, will be run from 6 October 2013.

The artists involved are:

Afro, Pierre Alechinsky, Francis Bacon, Max Bill, Alberto Burri, Alexander Calder, Giuseppe Capogrossi, Eduardo Chillida, Francesco Clemente, Enzo Cucchi, Ji Dachun, Lucio Fontana, Sam Francis, Helen Frankenthaler, Adolph Gottlieb, Nancy Graves, Zeng Hao, Jannis Kounellis, Giacomo Manzù, Henry Moore, Louise Nevelson, Victor Pasmore, Beverly Pepper,Tan Ping, Arnaldo Pomodoro, Man Ray, Julian Schnabel, George Segal, Pierre Soulages, Graham Sutherland, Walasse Ting and Victor Vasarely, Liu Ye and Ding Yi.

In this way, the new Gallery opens its doors, thanks to the help of Senator Giovanni Pieraccini who made these works available and promoted the exhibition, as a didactic-productive cultural centre, exhibiting works of 2RC that can be visited by the public until 10 November.
