Guided tour of the Parish Church of Saints Giovanni and Felicita

The Province of Lucca has organised a series of guided tours to promote awareness of the Romanesque churches in the Brancoli and Versilia area.

Parish Church of Saint Pietro and Saint Felicita
Surrounded by olive trees, that partly hide it from view from the road just below, the parish Church of Saints Giovanni and Felicita in Valdicastello marked the northern border of the diocese of Lucca with that of Luni in the Middle Ages.
One of the most important examples of Romanesque architecture in Lucca, characterised by monumental simplicity, the church stands apart from others in the area for its sculptural decorations.

This initiative forms part of the European ITERR-COST project which has the aim of promoting the Romanesque cultural heritage of the northern Tyrrhenian area.
