The exhibition at the Fondazione Ragghianti  I maestri del cinema interpretano la storia dell’arte, a visual screening cycle that shows how the video-film medium can become a critical tool for the interpretation and dissemination, according to the pioneering example provided by Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti with its critofilm.

Saturday, January 28
h 17:00 Leonardo da Vinci, color documentary directed by Luciano Emmer (1952, lasting 52'). He won the Golden Lion for best documentary at the Film Festival in Venice. The director has paid special attention to the man Leonardo, his unquenchable curiosity, seeking knowledge and attitude to experimentation that accompanied him throughout his life.

 

Saturday, February 4
h 17:00 The analysis of the work of Michelangelo Buonarroti. Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti, Michelangelo, critofilm (1964, lasting 78'). The author is concerned to make known images and words (added retrospectively after the end of the shoot) the artistic and conceptual formation of Buonarroti.

to follow – Michelangelo Antonioni, lo sguardo di  Michelangelo, (Michelangelo Antonioni, the look of Michelangelo) a short film (2004, lasting 15'). Dedicated to the result of the restoration of the Tomb of Julius II and the Moses of San Pietro in Vincoli in Rome, two works that represent, according to the director, the immortality of art.

 

Saturday, February 11
17:00 Michelangelo Merisi: Caravaggio, l’ultimo tempo (Michelangelo Merisi Caravaggio, the last time – 2005 documentary, lasting 41'). Narrated by Neapolitan director Mario Martone, simultaneously paying homage to their city and the artist who created you, in the course of his two stays (in 1606-1607 and in 1609-1610), masterpieces such as The Holy Family with St. John the Baptist, the David with the head of Goliath, the Seven works of Mercy and the last painting of his life, the Martyrdom of Saint Ursula.

All matches are introduced by Alessandro Romanini and Paolo Bolpagni, director of Fondazione Ragghianti.
