A very rich programme of meetings and debates is part of the Versiliana Festival. It’s the “Incontri al Caffé” (Meetings at the Café), where important protagonists of the literary, scientific or politic scene meet the public.

Fondazione La Versiliana
The first summer theatre season in the park of the Versiliana took place in 1968, run by the Azienda Autonoma di Soggiorno della Riviera della Versilia. Since 1975, activities linked to the theatre have been managed by the Town Council of Pietrasanta, who in 1979, managed to buy the park and the Villa Versiliana. The first “Versiliana” festival took place in 1980 under the artistic direction of Franco Martini. In the years following, the section dedicated to dance was introduced, as well as “Incontri al caffè, held by Romano Battaglia. In these afternoon meetings famous people from the world of culture, showbiz, and politics speak with the public in an atmosphere which aims to recreate the tradition of the cultural cenacles which made the Versiliana famous at the beginning of the 1900’s.
