“Giornate Internazionali: esperienze comuni verso Rifiuti Zero” (International days: experiences regarding Zero Waste)
For four days, from October 6 – 9, Capannori will become the green capital hosting the event “Giornate Internazionali: esperienze comuni verso Rifiuti Zero” including meetings, debates and book and film presentations on environmental issues.
This event, promoted by the Town Council of Capannori, Centro Ricerca Rifiuti Zero (Research Centre Zero Waste), Ascit and Progetto Active opens on Thursday 6 October at 21.00 at Capannori auditorium with the presentation of the book “Zero Rifiuti” by Marinella Correggia (Altraeconomia editions).
The highlight of this event will be on Saturday 8 October when over 50 mayors and town councillors from the Italian Town Municipalities that have complied with the strategy devised by Paul Connett meet up to found the ‘National Coordination of Zero Waste Town Councils’ of which the Town Council of Capannori, under the direction of mayor Del Ghingaro, pioneered in Italy in 2007.
Those present will include Jack Macy, commercial coordinator of the Zero Waste project and the municipality and County of S.Francisco and delegations from the town councils of Catalogna and Paesi Baschi. From this day, an “Agenda Comune” will emerge, the draft of which will be presented by the mayor Giorgio Del Ghingaro, Rossano Ercolini coordinator of the Research Centre Zero Waste of Capannori Town Council and Gianluca Fioretti, during a session chaired by the town councillor for the environment, Alessio Ciacci.
Environmentally friendly practices are then expressed in the form of a mini fashion show of clothes transformed from waste materials by the young stylist Martina Baldo and second-hand clothes by Manitese Lucca.
These four days conclude on Sunday 9 October with an open meeting between the operative team and the Scientific Committee of the Town Council Zero Waste Research Centre dedicated to the responsibility of manufacturers and waste reduction.
