On show the sharp caricatures – or “Visacci” as Mippia defined them – of the protagonists of the 20th century Florentine art and literature scene.
The exhibition includes some very famous pieces, such as those by Piero Bargellini and Manlio Cancogni, Primo Conti and Giovanni Spadolini, Carlo Levi and Indro Montanelli – but, there are also some original humorous cartoons from “Nazione Sera” in the early 1950s. Mippia Fucini was the granddaughter of the writer Renato Fucini, from whom she inherited a caustic spirit, and wife of Florentine sculptor Bruno Catarzi. She was a satirical comic writer, but also produced an intense and very relevant series of pictorial works. The works on display come from the Anchise and Ortensia Tempestini Donation at the Museum of Satire.
