Gustavo Aceves, a Mexican artist, chose Pietrasanta, the place he has lived and worked for two years, for the first stop of his travelling exhibition LAPIDARIUM.
The town is invaded by horses, dozens and dozens of horses made of different materials – bronze, iron, fibreglass – full of symbolic detail, as a constant reminder of the journey through the past, present and future.
A real siege, like that of the epic of Ulysses, but that brings an aura of hope and life rather than war and death.
The collection of (hollow) statues will enliven the Main Cathedral Square and the adjoining Saint Agostino complex: church, halls and cloister gardens.
A project in continuous transformation (from 22 March, 19.00, to 31 May), the exhibition changes, the horses increase in number until the final performance, that reaches the seashore and pier in Marina di Pietrasanta.
