From October 16 to November 14, 2010, the exhibition “Le città visibili” by the artist Nicola Perucca will be on show at the Mercurio Contemporary Art Gallery in corso Garibaldi 116, Viareggio.
The gallery, directed by Gianni Costa, will exhibit a series of recent acrylics on canvas and mixed techniques on paper. The theme of travel – suggested by the show’s title, inspired by the Italo Calvino novel “Le città invisibili” (The invisible towns) – is central to the work of this Liguria-born artist.
The exhibition has been organised in collaboration with the Viareggio Town Council Office for the Arts and the Sciaccheart Gallery in Riomaggiore.
Born in La Spezia, in 1962, Perucca boasts an impressive curriculum with numerous one-man exhibitions and important shows both in Italy and abroad (Spain, the Netherlands, Latvia, Finland, Norway). In 2003 he created three large paintings for the ‘Stelle nello Sport’ event held at the Carlo Felice Theatre in Genova, and in 2009 he held a one-man show at the prestigious Modern and Contemporary Art Centre in La Spezia. Among the important art critics and cultural commentators who have reviewed his work, are Ferruccio Battolini, Mara Borzone, Luciano Caprile and Giovanni Faccenda.
