L’isola che c’è – Giampaolo Talani

L'isola che c'è - Giampaolo Talani

From July 10th to September 15th, 2010, in Piazza Duomo, Pietrasanta, it is possible to see a selection of previously un-exhibited paintings and bronzes by the Master Giampaolo Talani. The exhibition, organised by the local town council together with the Enrico Paoli Gallery, presents sculptures, some of which on a notable scale, and the recent paintings by this Tuscan artist, author of the large “Partenze” fresco at the Santa Maria Novella station in Florence.

Giampaolo Talani was born in San Vincenzo (Livorno), in 1955. His curiosity has inspired him to cultivate traditional painting genres and also experiment other techniques including engraving and fresco painting, of which he is – among his contemporaries – one of the few great experts.
Although also a talented engraver, it was for his fresco painting that, at just 24 years old, he was given the prestigious assignment of frescoing the Church of San Vincenzo Ferreri in San Vincenzo (LI).

He has exhibited at New York, Washington, Paris, New Orleans, Innsbruck, Colonia, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Beirut, Berlin, Siviglia and Lisbon. His works are now included in many important public and private collections, and he works together with important galleries in Italy and abroad. He is a special consultant for the Ministry for Arts and Culture and the Monuments and Fine Arts Office on questions related to the preservation and improvement of the oldest frescos in Italy.
