The GAMC, Galleria Comunale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea “Lorenzo Viani”, holds an important heritage consisting of over three thousand works of art, mainly thanks to private donations and acquisitions made by the Municipality of Viareggio.
The availability of a vast corpus of works of art allows the GAMC frequently to change the outfits in order to allow the public to fully enjoy the great variety of masterpieces of the highest level.
Until March 5 it will be possible to admire about 200 works, including graphics, paintings, sculptures donated by artists over the course of twenty years to the literary Prize Viareggio Repaci.
The award, created in 1929 by Leonida Repaci was awarded for the first time in 1930. Since its inception the relationship between artists and cultural personalities have always been very close, not only as a moral and ideas support, but also because artists with their donations have helped the Award to raise the necessary funds for both cheques to award the winners and the costs of organization.
Every third Sunday of the month free admission and free guided tour of the gallery at 4:30 pm (winter opening hours) at 6:30 pm (summer opening hours).
