The world famous artist Luca Alinari, born in Florence, has exhibited throughout Italy, including at the Sala d’Arme at Palazzo Vecchio, Palazzo Reale in Milan, Biennial Exhibition of Modern Art in Venice, with his own one-man pavilion in 1982, and a number of times at the Quadrennial Exhibition of Modern Art in Rome.
Delicate, poetic and ironic at the same time, his work makes use of multiple techniques with refined figurative results. Much of what characterises Alinari’s work can be attributed to his love of the old masters of Sienese art, easily recognisable in the faces of his figures sculpted with sumptuous plastic elegance.
Figures, imaginary landscapes, suspended atmospheres and casually grouped objects are never without the solemnity that brings them alive. In 1999, the Uffizi Gallery purchased one of his Self-portraits, for the “Autoritratti d’Autore” collection in the Vasariano Corridor – the most important collections of its kind in the world.
This exhibition in Lucca will show around twenty of Alinari’s most significant works.
