In the churches of Lucca there are more than three hundred organs, an enormous patrimony, witness to the development and excellence achieved in the history of the art of organ making in the Lucchesia. The Association Domenico di Lorenzo was born in 1994 with the intention of promoting this artistic patrimony which is often unknown of and sometimes found in unfavourable conservation conditions. Since then, the association has organised concerts with programmes and performers of a very high standard, allowing the citizens to rediscover an important musical and architectonic tradition.
Admission to the concerts is free

Associazione Domenico di Lorenzo
In 1995 the music review for ancient organ music was given the name “Lucca city of the organs”. The Association Domenico di Lorenzo has, in many editions, collaborated with numerous public entities and cultural institutions such as the foundation ” Academy for Italian organ music of Pistoia, the Lucchese music association, the Academy of Science, Music and Art, the Associazione Musicale Lucchese and the Association Concentus Lucensis. The event has, since 1997 received the support of the town council of Lucca, and is realised with subsidies from the Province of Lucca. The Association is named after Domenico Di Lorenzo (1452-1523), the most important organ maestro of his time. Di Lorenzo, who was very active in Lucca and other Italian cities, made an organ for the Cathedral of San Martino in 1480, highly renowned for its sound quality.
