LUCCA I GIORNI DI PUCCINI – Così muore Mimì

Third edition of Lucca Puccini Days, the festival of Lucca dedicated to its most famous citizen, taking place from November 25 to January 8, an intriguing mix of events dedicated to the Maestro.

The event, a collaboration between the City of Lucca, the Giacomo Puccini Foundation and the Giglio theater, organized with the support of the Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca Foundation, confirmes the patronage of MIBACT – Ministry of Heritage and Culture and Tourism and Tuscany region, plus – for the third edition of the festival – to AGIS Tuscany.

Among the big festival guests, many leading names of the national and international show biz, such as Mazzavillani Cristina Muti, Peppe Servillo, Fiorenza Cedolins, Nicola Paszkowski, Elisabetta Salvatori, Peter Guth, the Orchestra Toscana, the Ensemble Berlin, the Budapest Gypsy Symphony Orchestra.

Lucca Puccini Days 2016 presents various and different kinds of musical experience, ranging from opera to jazz, rock and gypsy music, to intrude into narrative theater, and will be integrated with appointments made in collaboration with local organizations and associations.

Teatro del Giglio. La Bohème – opera scenes in four panels with a libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa, based on the novel Scenes de la vie de Bohème by Henri Murger. Music by Giacomo Puccini. Puccini's opera starring a cast of talented young artists: Benedetta Torre (Mimi); Alessandro Scotto di Luzio (Rodolfo), Italo Proferisce (Marcello), Damiana Mizzi (Musetta), Daniel Giulianini (Schaunard), Luca Dall'Amico ( Colline), Giorgio Trucco (Benoit, Parpignol), Graziano Dellavalle (Alcindoro) and Antonio Della Santa (Sergeant of Customs officers). Fiorenza Cedolins – An unmissable event at the Teatro del Giglio: Fiorenza Cedolins, one of the most acclaimed opera singers of our time, the festival will dedicate a fine selection of arias and duets together with tenor Simon Frediani from the most famous Puccini operas, accompanied at the piano by Andrea Severi.

 

Friday, December 16
h 21:00 – Teatro del Giglio.
Elisabetta Salvatori "Piccolo come le stelle", the life of Giacomo Puccini – Elisabetta Salvatori, a reference figure of the Italian narrative theater, will be the guest of the festival with his new work dedicated to the life of Giacomo Puccini. A national première enriching the edition 2016 Lucca Puccini Days brings on stage the contribution of the artist famous for her ability to tell true stories about hidden people, places and events. On stage, live music by Matteo Ceramelli, violin.

 

Thursday, December 22
h 21:00 – Teatro del Giglio. Saluti da Vienna" Peter Guth directs the Orchestra della Toscana – In occasion of the birthday of Giacomo Puccini, Peter Guth as charming interpreter of the Viennese style, recalls the Central European musical milieu, along with many other suggestions, inspired  the young Puccini.

h 16:00 – Teatro del Giglio. New Year Concert – Budapest Gypsy Symphony Orchestra – For the traditional appointment of the New Year's day the Teatro del Giglio will be invaded by gypsy atmospheres. The group, as a guest of concert halls and theaters around the world in its traditional set of strings, clarinets and cimbalom – will offer a festive performance, enhanced by a special and exclusive tribute to Giacomo Puccini.

 

Sunday, January 8th
h 16:00 – Teatro del Giglio. Peppe Servillo – Ensemble Berlin "The half-serious between Puccini and Richard Strauss". Terrific narrator, Peppe Servillo will create – on music tracks between the scores of Giacomo Puccini and Richard Strauss – the scratchy ideal dialogue between the two rival authors on the stages of Europe, in the show made exclusively for the Lucca festival.
