Saturday 19 September sees the start of the eleventh edition of the festival dedicated to women in jazz, organised by the Circolo Lucca Jazz, Lucca Town Council and the Provincial Authorities of Lucca with funding from the Regional Authorities of Tuscany, the Foundation Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca and the Foundation Banca del Monte di Lucca, under the artistic direction of Patrizia Landi.
Lucca Jazz Donna features a programme of six evening events until 17 October at the theatre of San Girolamo. 15 September sees the start of the photography exhibition by Laura Casotti, on show at the Throne Hall of Palazzo Ducale, which accompanies all the evening events of the festival. Other side events precede or accompany the festival, including exhibitions and workshops, for a September full of activities in Lucca town centre.

Side events
Thursday 10 September at 5pm at Palazzo Ducale (Maria Luisa Hall, Carrara courtyard), sees the second edition of the panel discussion “When passion becomes a profession”. Guests Emiliana Martinelli, designer, Talitha Ciancarella, librarian, Federica Gennai, jazz singer, and Cristina Puccinelli, actor and director. Moderator Anna Benedetto, journalist.
There will also be preview of the photography exhibition by Cinzia Guidetti, and a musical interlude by Gaia Mattiuzzi on vocals and Francesco Cusa on drums, with the project “Skinshout”.
The event also includes an entertainment and reading service for children aged 3 to 12, organised by the Provincial Authorities of Lucca with funding from the Regional Authorities of Tuscany, under the territorial Gender Agreement 2014 – L. 16/2009 Citizenship of gender – Project Family Friendly – Improved Welfare for workers and their families.

Saturday 12 September at 17.30 at Palazzo Ducale (Mario Tobino Hall, Carrara courtyard), sees the opening of the photography exhibition “Jazz in Pink” by Cinzia Guidetti, with 18 shots depicting 18 women in the world of music, which remain on show until 30 September. These are portraits of singers and musicians who have taken part in some of the most prestigious jazz festivals in Tuscany and Italy.
The inauguration also features a concert by the Settemeno Acustic Duo formed by Elena Carrossa on vocals and Leonardo Landini on guitar.

Tuesday 15 September, from 4pm to 6pm at Capannori Town Hall (Atena Room, via Carlo Piaggia), sees the workshop “From paper to the web: evolutions for creativity in communication”. The workshop, held by Ilaria Ferrari, art director, and Chiara Cinelli, webmistress & wordpress developer, focusses on the evolution of communication tools and the rapidly changing ways of working that characterise the graphic communication sector. Moderated by Anna Benedetto, journalist.

Tuesday 15 September at Palazzo Ducale and during the Lucca Jazz Donna concerts, there is a photography workshop by Laura Casotti with the photographs and photographers that took part in and were selected for the specific competition.
Monday 12 October, at 21.15, there is a screening in San Micheletto in partnership with Lucca Cinema Club.

Saturday 19 September, 21.15, at Palazzo Ducale (Ademollo Hall), opening of the 11th edition of the festival with two sets. For the first, the “Flores Ensemble” performs with Anastasia Ossipova and Ilaria Gigli on violin, Marta Degli’Innocenti on viola, Chandra Ughi on violoncello and Gioia Giusti on pianoforte.
In the second, we have the “Ladies in Mercedes”, with Francesca Fattori on guitar, Giulia Facco on pianoforte, Camilla Missio on contrabass and Serena Davini on drums.

Saturday 26 September alle 21,15 a nella sala Artè (Capannori, via Carlo Piaggia). First set with “Circle Time” – Cecilia Sanchietti jazz project: Davide Grottelli on sax, David Boato on trumpet, Gaia Possenti, on pianoforte, Stefano Napoli on contrabass, Cecilia Sanchietti on drums, guest Federica Zammarchi.
Second set with the Betta Blues Society: Elisabetta Maulo on vocals, Lorenzo Marianelli on guitar, Filippo Ceccarini on trumpet, Beppe Scardino on baritone sax and Fabrizio Balest on contrabass.

Friday 9 October, 21.15, at the San Girolamo theatre, an evening with international guests. The first set stages “Jazz Women!” with Allison Adams Tucker on vocals, Emmanuel Massarotti on pianoforte, Marco Panascìa on basso, Enzo Zirilli on drums.
The second set sees the “Francesca Tandoi European Quartet” with Francesca Tandoi on pianoforte, Frits Landesbergen on vibraphone, Frans Van Geest on contrabass and Giovanni Campanella on drums.

Saturday 10 October, 21.15 at the San Girolamo theatre. The first set hosts the “Elisabetta Antonini – women next door” with Elisabetta Antonini on vocals, Silvia Manco on pianoforte, Federica Michisanti on contrabass and Danielle Di Majo on alto sax. The second set stars Rosa Brunello y los fermentos “brasserie” with Francesca Viaro on vocals, David Boato on trumpet, flugelhorn and compositions, Dan Kinzelman on tenor sax and clarinet, Filippo Vignato on trombone, compositions, Enzo Carniel in pianoforte, Rosa Brunello on contrabass and compositions, Luca Colussi on drums.

Saturday 17 October, 21.15, in the Church of San Francesco, sees the end of theFestival 2015, a special event organised by the Circolo Lucca Jazz together with the Committee Nuovi Eventi of the Foundation Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca.
During the evening a selection of the photographs that emerged from the Festival photography exhibition will be on show.
