Jorge R. Pombo, Spanish painter who lives in New York, comes to Lucca with his exhibition “The passion”.
Twenty works by the artist will be on show from 12 January to 2 March in the town centre at the Church of S.Cristoforo.
Variations of famous paintings on the passion of Christ, from Velazquez to Caravaggio, give way to works depicting Lucca, with its distinctive roman walls, that the artist has reworked using Google Earth from his Atelier in Brooklyn.
Pombo uses the action painting technique that with solvents and brush strokes transforms the real into abstract, allowing the viewer to catch a glimpse of the creative process followed.
The event is promoted and organised by the association S. Cristoforo Art, Philosophy, Science Spirituality and also sponsored by the Office for Culture of the Spanish Embassy in Italy, Lucca Town Council and Ramon Llull Institute.
