“Agire nell’età del rischio” (Act in the age of risk) is the theme of the meeting with the philosopher Salvatore Natoli to be held on 5 November (5.30 pm), at the Mario Tobino Hall, Palazzo Ducale, Piazza Napoleone – Lucca.
Through a precise and full examination of philosophical and cultural suggestions on the “good use of the world”, Natoli helps us reflect on the extent to which we are masters of our daily actions.
Along these lines, he also provides an alternative: emancipation from passivity to gain real freedom, practice of a “new” form of ascetism, which is not the refusal of pleasure or giving up the enjoyability of things and the world, but is the right measure of conscience to distinguish between that which really serves us and that which actually “enslaves”.
Time-out from the everyday hustle and bustle to fully become masters of ourselves and our behaviour. Natoli provides an authoritative and absorbing reflection on the complex laws that govern our daily lives, in the belief of being able to delve into their depths and, as far as possible, unfurl some of their ambiguities.
