The exhibition is a retrospective on the discovery of some 1,500 works by Guido Cagetti (Seravezza 1935-Viareggio 2013) – Provincial guard by profession and painter for passion – that has surprised friends and family members.
It was known that Cagetti painted with experienced and wise hand what he observed and remembered; it was known that his paintings arouse intense emotions even in an unprepared spectator, but nobody definitely knew the amount and the articulation of his production.
In the exhibition are displayed about 100 works divided into nine themes: "Self-portraits", "Work", "Women", "Sacrifice 1944", "Christ", "Still Life", "Animals", "On the territory", "Inks".
The exhibition is enriched by a catalog published by Edizioni Comitato Archivio artistico-documentario Gierut.
On Thursday, October 27 at 17:30 will be inaugurated in Querceta a preview of the exhibition, entitled: "Guidone illumina Querceta".
Saturday, October 29 will be the turn of the Palazzo Medici in Servezza where, again at 17:30 takes place the vernissage of "Memoria d'arte. Il simbolo e il messaggio". Both exhibitions will be open free of charge until January 8, 2017.
