For the entire month of June an exhibition of work by the Italian-born artist Teo Pirisi aka “Moneyless” will be on show at the Fortino (Blockhouse) in Forte Dei Marmi.
Born in Milan, artist with a background in the graffiti culture of the nineties, Moneyless went on to break away from text spayed on walls, and meaning intrinsic to this, to devote himself to pure geometric forms reduced to their bare minimum.
Circles, triangles and squares give life to his compositions that are as complicated as they are pure and essential. Likewise, the use of simple and poor materials forms an integral part of his art.
His aim is to create illustrations, murals and installations with these that grab the attention of the viewer, who finds him/herself studying the beauty of the perfect lines and slender figures from various angles, engaging with the contrast that these forms – that also lie at the heart of all that is present in nature – create, merging with their surrounding spaces.
Since 2008 Pirisi has been involved in many street art exhibitions in Italy and abroad with his rope and wire works.
Just last year he had his first one-man exhibition in Los Angeles followed now by his first in Italy, opening with a site-specific installation on the rampart of the Fortino.
The exhibition is open everyday from 9.30am to 1pm and 3.30pm to 7pm until 30 June.
Free admission.
