Otium – Marco Manzella

Otium - Marco Manzella

Saturday 4 December, 2010, at 5.30 pm, the exhibition “Otium”, by the artist Marco Manzella, opens at the Mercurio Contemporary Art Gallery in corso Garibaldi 116 in Viareggio.
Born in Leghorn in 1962, Manzella presently lives and works in Brescia and Viareggio. He has had numerous one-man exhibitions and important shows both in Italy and abroad.
In this Viareggio gallery directed by Gianni Costa puts on show a series of recent temperas on wooden boards and mixed techniques on paper. Manzella’s paintings –  which include a wide variety of references: from 16th century Tuscan painting, to British pop art, to contemporary American illustrators – represent a natural universe, refined and suspended, using a synthetic and rigorous expressive language.
The exhibition is organised in collaboration with Viareggio Town Council’s Department for the Arts.
Catalogue with text by Domenico Montalto.
Open everyday until 30 December, from 5 pm to 7.30 pm. Infoline: 0584 426238.
