From 20 September to 11 October, Pietrasanta hosts an exhibition of around 1000 works, in a twinning of art between Pietrasanta and Cefalù.
The exhibition, curated by Lodovico Gierut and Giuseppe Parisio, “Pietrasanta – Cefalù”, starts from Palazzo Panichi and passes through a number of, at times unexpected, settings in Pietrasanta. To mark the occasion, a delegation led by the Town Councillor for Culture Vincenzo Garbo will visit Versilia from Cefalù.
Press release:
[…]This exhibition includes some big names in the art world, including Igor Mitoraj, Fernando Botero, Novello Finotti, Ivan Theimer, Girolamo Ciulla, and looking further back in time, Lorenzo Viani, Renato Guttuso, Emilio Greco and Francesco Messina. The visitor moves between paintings, drawings, sculpture and photographs in a project that values the characteristics of the Mediterranean. The themes range from fruits of the land, like wheat, olive trees and fish, to higher values represented by freedom, work, and aggregation.

There are also photographs by Ilario Bessi on the Versilian connections with Maria Papa, Henry Moore and Pietro Cascella, shot both in Cefalu’ and in Michael Angelo’s quarries in Azzano, and dedication to the Apuane-born Ilario Bessi with a selection of his quarry photos in Carrara to highlight the entire Apuane-Versilian sector.
