"Quando il West tornò a Lucca": Il mito della frontiera americana raccontato dai fumetti / "Quando il West tornò a Lucca" (When the West came back to Lucca): The legend of the American frontier retold by comics

“Quando il West tornò a Lucca” is a large exhibition, divided into three sections, at the Fumetto (Comic) Museum from 12 October to 31 December.

The theme is the American frontier and its classic characters: ruthless cowboys, fearless rangers, talented gunslingers and deadly indigenous archers, as retold by the great Italian illustrators and comic artists Giovanni Ticci, Renzo Calegari & Sergio Tisselli and Pasquale Frisenda.

The first section, dedicated to Giovanni Ricci, contains the unpublished frames of Tex that the Siena-born illustrator completed for Giovanni Verger, and 79 front covers he created for the great Western novels published in the eighties.

The second section features 60 original unpublished frames from the story “Guerre di Frontiera” (Frontier Wars) drawn by Renzo Calegari and coloured directly by Sergio Tisselli.

The final section includes both previously unpublished illustrations created especially for the exhibition by the Milan-born comic artist Pasquale Frisenda, and a selection of original frames taken from some of the best stories dedicated to the characters of Magico Vento, Tex and Ken Parker.
