From 21 November to 6 April, the exhibition “SIGNORINI, FATTORI, LEGA E I MACCHIAIOLI DEL CAFFE’ MICHELANGIOLO – RIBELLI SI NASCE” is on show at the Lucca Center of Contemporary Art.
The exhibition brings together work by Tuscan artists who, between the 19th and 20th century, challenged the cannons of commercialised and purely decorative painting, to express their creativity with acumen and passion, as well as a modernist approach in the study of form and use of colour.
The painting of the Macchiaioli and other artists in this exhibition, takes the everyday as their subject: moments of life immortalised in a suspended time. As described in the press release, “all the works by these artists still reflect the passing of time and the sacrality of an old slowness of days passed within private rooms and outside in the gardens; a slowness that retells the itinerary of a process that respects the human condition of existence. A ‘climate’ of life that enters in places illuminating them not just with light, but above all with narrative elements that are full of feelings and intimate emotions“.
