Born after the organ restoration of the cathedral of Lucca, San Martino to give prominence and attention to the repertoire of sacred music, for over 50 years, the Sagra Musicale Lucchese is the cultural event of reference for the Italian high level artistic programs that have never failed to propose unpublished, first and big names in the international scene, by promoting the best of contemporary artistic production.
The event offers concerts of religious music starting from the organ music, to expand to vocal–instrumental music of the same genre.
Special attention has been paid to the rich musical tradition of Lucca: over the years, from the archives of the Archbishop's Seminary and Institute Boccherini were selected, reviewed and enforced in concerts of great success, several scores of Lucca authors, from Boccherini to Puccin, from Catalani to Pacini and Luporini.
