Silvano Cattaï - Plasma

From October 16 – 30, the exhibition “Plasma” by Silvano Cattaï in on show at the Sant’Agostino complex.

The exhibition includes a selection of the artist’s most recent works, featuring steel plates marked by deep incisions.

Biography
Born to Italian parents in Belgium in 1951, Cattai finished school in 1968 and moved to Paris, where he studied cinematography and human sciences at university. He worked on various films and produced a number of paintings (oils, acrylics and multimedia). In 1979 he went to the United States to study cinematography at the American Film Institute of Los Angeles. In 1980 he moved to New York, where he worked on a number of films and continued painting. In 1984 he studied at the Art Student League in NYC and began his exploration into the world of sculpture. In 1989 he came to Pietrasanta, Carrara and Seravezza in Italy, where he has worked with marble, bronze and other materials. Cattai presently lives and works in Seravezza.
