Luca Alinari - Sono nato ma... / Sono nato, ma...

From 4 September to 16 October, Pietrasanta hosts the exhibition “Sono nato, ma…” (I was born but…) by Luca Alinari.
Alinari is a difficult artist to label.
His highly original pictorial technique combines material compositions with refined, smooth and transparent coloured backgrounds.

Twenty recent works of various sizes are on show in a carefully thought out setting in the Putti and Capitolo rooms of the Cloister of the Church of Sant’Agostino and Palazzo Panichi.

Short biography
Luca Alinari was born in Florence in 1943 and still lives and works in and around the city. One of the most active and creative painters, scenographers and intellectuals in the world, Alinari is also the author of written works on painting and surreal stories which even further increase our appreciation of the remarkable gift of his versatile talent.
The countless public and private exhibitions in Italy as well as abroad which have shown his work include the Biennial Exhibition of Modern Art in Venice (1982), the Quadrennial Exhibition in Rome (1986), the grand anthological selections at Palazzo Reale in Milan (1993), Museum of Contemporary Art in Genova, Villa Croce, (1995), Palzzo Medici Ricardi in Florence (2000) and the Adler Gallery in Paris (2003).
In 1999 the Uffizi Museum purchased one of his Self-portraits, now included in the famous collection located in the Vasariano corridor. Many influential critics, art historians, poets and writers have shown interest in his work, including Renato Barilli, Enrico Crispolti, Alfonso Gatto, Marilena Pasquali, Goffredo Parise, Elena Pontiggia, Edoardo Sanguineti and recently Josè Saramago, Nobel Prize winner for literature.
