In the Palace of Culture of Cardoso (Stazzema) opens on Saturday, June 10, at 5.30 pm, on the occasion of the celebrations for the 21st Anniversary of the Versilia flood, the exhibition dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the magazine Versilia Oggi.
The journal of information and in-depth analysis founded by Giorgio Giannelli, a journalist and writer, was first edited in December 1966, a few days after the terrifying flood that struck Florence, denouncing that if Versilia was not adequately protected, it could have been hit by such an event.
Thirty years after that vicious announcement, Upper Versilia was struck by a terrible natural disaster that swept houses and people away.
Among the themes debated by Versilia Today, the marine and mountain tourism, the popular traditions, the atrocities and the massacres of World War II, the little far-sightedness of the administrations in creating the preconditions for a true economic development, the Unique municipality of Versilia.
The exhibition at Palazzo della Cultura will have a special focus on the territory of Stazzema that has been the subject of numerous campaigns such as those already mentioned. Some of the magazine most significant first pages will be on display.
