WAITING FOR THE PUCCINI FESTIVAL – Giovani all'opera

The Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago is the only Festival in the world fully dedicated to the composer Giacomo Puccini. It takes place every summer during the months of July and August, in the very places that inspired Maestro Puccini’s immortal melodies.

 

The Festival came into being in 1930 and over the years has become an increasingly prestigious event, which every year attracts tens of thousands of spectators from all over the world.

At the Puccini Festival, you can appreciate the great opera stars, under the direction of some of the most important conductors, and admire the extraordinary set designs of Puccini’s operas such as Madama Butterfly, Turandot, La Bohème, Tosca, Manon Lescaut, executed by famous directors. The Great Open Air Theatre with 3,400 seats, dedicated to Maestro Puccini, opens onto the picturesque Massaciuccoli Lake and is surrounded by a park of extraordinary charm that houses works of art by great contemporary sculptors such as Pietro Cascella, Jean-Michel Folon and Kan Yasuda, to name some. Just a few steps away is the house where the Maestero lived and composed most of his masterpeaces.
 

While awaiting July 15, start date of the shows, the Puccini Festival Foundation invites residents and holiday-makers to participate in a cycle of musical events with free admission, which will take place primarily at the open-air theatre Giacomo Puccini, but also in other attractive locations.

19:00 – Bar Fappani, Piazza Mazzini Viareggio –  Le donne di Puccini. (Puccini's Women).

 

h.20:00 / 23:45 -Gran Caffè Margherita, Viale Margherita, Viareggio – Maratona Pucciniana (Puccini Marathon). Event on the occasion of the white night.

 

h.18:00 – Gran Teatro Puccini, Sala Belvedere, Torre del Lago Puccini – Busoni and his Turandot, conference and concert promoted by the Puccini Festival Friends and coordinated by Lisa Domenici, with the participation of the main characters of the Turandot by Ferruccio Busoni, of the director Alessandro Golinelli and of the solo artists of the Academy of Advanced Studies for voices of the Puccini Festival.
