From July 30th to August 8th, at Castelnuovo in Garfagnana in the province of Lucca, for the ninth year running, the Garfagnana Photography Club presents “Photography week”; an important appointment for amateur photography with exhibitions, events, prize-giving and reading of portfolios.
The young, free-lance photographer Giovanni Marrozzini will receive the “golden fibula” of the Award dedicated to Rodolfo Pucci.
The exhibitions
The event will be inaugurated by Giovanni Marrozzini on Friday, July 30th with a public meeting dedicated to photographic journalism with his show “S.T.O.P. Sopravvivere nei Territori Occupati Palestinesi” (Survival in Occupied Palestine).
In addition, six works by young promising authors from the last year’s selection process will be on show: Paola Fiorini from Verona (winner of the Italy Portfolio 2009), Maurizio Chelucci from Cerveteri, Sergio Carlesso and Nazzareno Berton from Romano d’Ezzelino (Vicenza), Mario Barsocchi from Capannori, Maurizio Cintioli from Rome and Davide Grossi from Parma (winner of the Ariosto Portfolio 2009).
Along with the exhibition by the Garfagnana Photography Club, with space dedicated to each author, on the evening of August 5th at the Fort of Ariosto, tribute will be held to Mario Pannunzio to mark the hundredth anniversary of his birth, with an exhibition and conference by Gianfranco Arciero from ” Centro Studi e ricerche sulla cultura visuale e sui linguaggi della comunicazione”, the Study and Research Centre for the visual arts and language of communication in Rome.
Portfolio of Ariosto – Sony Award
Giovanni Marrozzini together with Fulvio Merlak, President of the FIAF, Luigi Erba (photographer and photography critic), Roberto Evangelisti (photography teacher) and Giorgio Tani (honorary president of the FIAF and director of the publishing department) will judge and present the “Portfolio of Ariosto – Sony Award”, an appraisal of great interest to young photographers. The “Portfolio of Ariosto” is one of the components that gives life to the “Italia Portfolio”, the prestigious award for which two of the portfolio winners will compete.
