From Massaciuccoli to Chiatri

Villa di Chiatri

Bike or car route from Villa Ginori Lisci (Massaciuccoli) to Villa Puccini in Chiatri.
Length: approximately 8 km.

An itinerary for bike lovers or a leisurely drive for those with less time. A fascinating route between two places Giacomo Puccini loved. The first one is Villa Ginori-Lisci, where the famous composer shared a passion for hunting with the owner of the mansion and the lake, Marquis Carlo Benedetto Ginori-Lisci.The second one is located in the small village of Chiatri, in the hills of Massarosa, where Puccini, after the successes of Manon Lescaut and La Bohème, purchased a villa in a fantastic position in 1898 and had it completely rebuilt. “From up there you can enjoy an enchanting view: the coast, from Livorno to La Spezia; the rivers; Corsica, the islands of Gorgona and Capraia, and also San Rossore, Migliarino and Lucca,” wrote the composer.

Start: Villa Ginori, Massarosa
