MTB.
Difficulty: intermediate level. Good training required. Advanced driving skills required.
Start: Viareggio railway station.
Length: 45.3 km

Exiting the Viareggio train station, keep slightly to the right and take Via 20 Settembre, heading toward the sea. Then take the bike path, turning left onto the seafront promenade, with some beautiful Art Nouveau buildings, including the Caffè Margherita, the Duilio 48 bazaar, and the Bagno Balena beach club.

Pass the canal and continue straight to enter the Lecciona forest, following Viale dei Tigli or continue on the paved road. At the first traffic light, turn right onto a path and shortly after, turn left onto a beautiful dirt road that runs through the entire Lecciona forest, a natural oasis.

Once at the paved road, take the bike path on the right toward Marina di Torre del Lago. Before reaching the seafront, turn left onto a dirt road that runs parallel to the sea for a few kilometers, all the way to Marina di Vecchiano. Ride a short stretch on paved road and then take the path that runs parallel to the sea, all the way to the mouth the river Serchio.

Continue on a dirt road, cross a small brick bridge and take Via del Mare, heading inland. Pass through the village of Vecchiano, taking the road that runs along the banks of the river Serchio and biking through Nodica. Take the road to Filettole and follow it for a few kilometers until it joins the Puccini cycle/pedestrian path. Follow this route, skirting the wetland of Lake Massaciuccoli. Head towards Massarosa and some dirt and paved roads to bike back to Viareggio train station.
