The museum is organized into two sections. One on the use of chestnut wood in various eras (carpentry, bigonce, baskets, the forest, tannin, coal and its use etc. etc.). The other section is dedicated to the cultivation of chestnut for feeding: the various tools for grafting chestnut, pruning, harvesting, drying, "beating", milling, conservation, cooking are displayed . Near the museum a path in the woods has been created "the chestnut path", with information signs, which leads to an area where chestnut varieties have been planted to be safeguarded. Recently the museum has been enriched with a teaching room, unique in the sector, where you can find information on chestnut varieties, on the largest chestnuts in Lucca and Italy, on chestnut diseases and on the nutritional value of chestnut flour. In the hall there is a large thematic library.
