The 21 members of the UNESCO committee, who met this year at Phnom Penh in Cambodia, have granted the Medicee Gardens and Villa world heritage site status.
This is much-awaited news that gives further pride to the region of Tuscany, where some 14 sites including villas and gardens have been given this award in recognition of their historical, artistic and cultural value.
The Palazzo Mediceo in Serravezza, emblem of the Renaissance and fundamental part of this location, is therefore now officially a World Heritage Site.
On receiving this news, the town has decided to organise an informal party that involves the entire community at Villa Medicea: Saturday 30 June, 17.00.
