The passion tobacco

La passione per il tabacco / The passion tobacco

Giacomo Puccini was an avid smoker. From cigarettes to the pipe to his beloved cigars, the composer smoked until his final days.

It is said that Puccini composed the famous aria from Turandot while surrendering to his passion for cigars. Whenever he indulged in this ritual, the Maestro seemed to retreat into a world of his own. In that deep and intimate silence, inspiration would take shape, ignited like the fire of his cigar, a faithful companion that helped him reach a state of creative grace.

To honor the genius of this great composer from Lucca, in 2020 Manifatture Sigaro Toscano created and launched “Puccini”—the signature cigar crafted in their Lucca factories. It stands as a tribute to the unbreakable bond between the city, the Maestro, and the art of the Tuscan cigar.
