Intorno alla leggenda del Volto Santo

Words, stories, sounds, images about the Holy Cross: Intorno alla leggenda del Volto Santo ( About the legend of the Volto Santo) begins on the 2nd of May. 4 free events combining the discovery of the legend and the sacredness of music in symbolic places.
It has been organized by “Concentus Lucensis” and “Ensemble Cantilena Antiqua”, in collaboration with Culture and Tourist Office of the Town Council of Lucca Circoscrizioni 1 and  6, Istituto Storico, associazione “Amici delle Seimiglia”, with the support of Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca, intorno al 3 maggio, festa dell’Invenzione della Santa Croce.
The first date is May 2nd: at 11, extraordinary opening of Buonvisi Chapel of Villa Buonvisi in Monte Sanquirico, with the frescos illustrating the legend of the Holy Cross. Iacopo Lazzareschi will speak about the Volto Santo and the Lucchese Government. Music performance “Il chiostro delle Beatitudini laude in latino e volgare” by voices and instruments of the Medieval Musical Theatre Workshop of ‘Ensemble Cantilena Antiqua and Concentus Lucensis, conducted by Stefano Albarello.
At 17 at San Cristoforo’s Church in Lucca, Chiara Bozzoli will give the lesson “La chiesa di San Cristoforo – Lettura della Leggenda della Santa Croce del Beato Leobino”, with the reciting voice of Ugo Mancini and music performance “Hymns and Gregorian Chants dedicated to the Cross” by voices and instruments of the Medieval Musical Theatre Workshop of ‘Ensemble Cantilena Antiqua and Concentus Lucensis, conducted by Stefano Albarello.
