The Museum collects documents and testimonies of the culture of marbles and ornamental stones of the Apuan Alps, which have settled in the same territory (and not only) in 27 centuries of history. The aim is the conservation and illustration of the most characteristic stone productions, starting with the serial artefacts, to develop a specific historical-archaeological knowledge and not to disperse the memory of an artisan and artistic tradition, unfortunately today residual. The Museum also fulfills the function of an applied research center in the field of material culture of ancient stone productions. The museum layout is divided into six exhibition rooms.
