The Lands of Giacomo Puccini have an ancient history. The prehistoric settlements, the presence of the Ligurian and Apuan populations, the Etruscan dominion and later the Roman one, are testified by archaeological excavations which, year after year, enrich the knowledge of the past. In some cases, the same urban conformation of the cities clearly marks the Roman past of its foundation. Finally, the constant presence of waterways has strongly affected the morphology of the territory. Bridges of Roman, medieval, Renaissance, nineteenth and twentieth century origins are widespread and interesting and enterprising for their shape and architecture.
